Connectivity
Technical information
Fareham enjoys access to a wide range of telecommunications services - from the ultra-high multi-Gb bandwidth capability of direct fibre networks to broadband enabled exchange services (ADSL/SDSL), multiple telco providers and a designated satellite teleport.
Fareham offers a direct access point of presence to the Fibernet southcoast fibre network. The Fibernet network offers high speed (multi Gb) resilient fibre links from Fareham designed to service the needs of enterprise level users, service providers or outsourcers/reseller/integrators.
Local service providers - NewNet plc - connect to the Fibernet network and are able to offer links between local business and the Internet using their own capacity together with local telco 'tails'. Utilising the NewNet connection can be a very cost-effective route for business locating in and around Fareham. Extensions to the local network are now offering high capacity (10-100 Mb/s and more) to all areas.
For users with lower levels of demand, ADSL and SDSL services are available from all Fareham telephone exchanges - please note that actual speed will depend on the distance from the exchange to user with ADSL up to 8Mb/s downstream and SDSL to 2Mb/s available.
A variety of major telco providers are able to offer service in and around the Fareham area providing point to point circuits to customer requirements.
